The Lord Provides

God has been teaching me a lot about trusting Him to provide recently. It has been interesting to see how the Lord provides encouragement when I need it most as well as providing for my physical needs in unexpected ways. He is good, and all of these things come in His timing. Which often times is not as soon or as quickly as I would like, so patiently trusting that everything is in His hands has been a lesson I have had to go through a few times this semester.

One thing that has been so humbling is that God, is constantly putting reminders before my eyes of His provision and care for the saints and in specific me. Last week Pastor John preached from 1 Samuel 27:1-28:2. In this passage we see that David, in order to escape Saul's wrath, had gone over to the enemies of Israel for protection. In this passage God is not mentioned once. He is a silent provider for David and his men all through out the passage. Pastor John finished up his sermon with this question, "What do you do when you feel that God is not with you? David continued to obey God and pursue a relationship with Him." I could go on and on with the different ways that God has brought this promise to my attention either through song, friends words, or sermons.

This week at church we sang a favorite hymn of mine. Be Still My Soul. Its words are such a reminder to God's faithfulness to us.

Be still my soul: the Lord is on your side; bear patiently, the cross of grief or pain; leave to your God to order and provide; in every change He faithful will remain. Be still my soul: your best, your heavenly friend through thorny ways leads to a joyful end...
